We are saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Wil Blechman, a Past Governor of the Florida District and Past President of Kiwanis International.
A number of years ago, when the Florida District supported the candidacy of Past Governor Wil Blechman for International Trustee, we knew that we were offering a qualified and dedicated candidate for the office. But none of us knew that Dr. Wil would change the face and direction of Kiwanis forever. While he was the 1990-91 Kiwanis International President, Dr. Wil was the father of “Young Children: Priority One”. Wil and his wife, Rachel, pioneered new partnerships, new visions, and new dreams for Kiwanis. What originally began as a three-year program has grown into a permanent emphasis program of Kiwanis. Kiwanis has enjoyed tremendous International recognition and acclaim because of the focus of Young Children: Priority One. But more importantly, young children's lives have been positively changed around the globe.

I had the honor of knowing him and visiting his booths at icon s. A great man!!! And saw him at state conventions as well. I hope his legacy continues!!!!
Soooo sad. What a positive impact he had on Kiwanis and on young children. He changed us all for the better. What a huge loss!
He a truly great and honorable man. I heard him speak at several Kiwanis conventions. He will be missed by Kiwanis and Florida.
