With deep regret and heavy hearts, on behalf of Florida Kiwanis Governor Tommy Mills and the leadership of the Florida District, we share the passing of Melanie Jayne Winternheimer on January 6, 2026.
A lifelong Kiwanian in Central Florida, Melanie devoted her life and career to serving Kiwanis and the communities we support. Her journey of leadership began as Division 10 Lieutenant Governor from 2003–2005, followed by her election as District Treasurer (now Vice Governor) in 2011. In 2012, she stepped down from that elected leadership role to accept the position of Executive Director of the Florida District, a role she served with distinction for 13 years.
With a wealth of institutional knowledge and an unwavering dedication to Kiwanis, Melanie provided countless hours of leadership and guidance to Kiwanians across Florida. Her ability to juggle multiple responsibilities with efficiency and grace was instrumental to the District’s success, ensuring smooth operations and strengthening our collective positive impact on communities throughout the Florida District. Her passion for service, keen organizational skills, and deep understanding of Kiwanis principles made her an invaluable leader and a driving force behind the District’s continued excellence.
Melanie was deeply respected, genuinely loved, and leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shape our District for years to come.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Tom, Gracie, and their family, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this profound loss. ... See MoreSee Less
